While no sightings of the baby, or babies, occurred, their harsh cries were unmistakable. I can only describe the call of a baby crow to be a cross between a human baby, an angry cat, and a distant chainsaw. Whenever the baby called, a parent was soon to tend to it, whether the parent was flying back to the nest or already there and simply seemed to pay more attention to it. The nest was well hidden, and I was unable to make out the structure itself as it was within a cluster of nettles and branches. While I never saw the actual nest, I did observe the parents carrying what appeared to be grass and dried nettles, so I can only assume that was what the nest was made of. What I found to be interesting was the location of the crow’s nest, as it was in an area where many other bird nests were found, not fifty yards away. I saw a starling’s nest, a house finch’s nest, and multiple cliff swallow nests. All of these nests had almost constant activity and, as I said, were very close to the crow nest, so I can only assume that crow’s don’t care about nearby bird nests so long as they are of other species, for no other crow’s nest was observed within a short distance of this particular
