There are no situations in which strengths based approaches are not appropriate models of care. When collaborating with the family and community to develop an appropriate care plan and effective assessment there is no right or wrong model to use. More often than not, nurses will use a combination of different models or transition between different ones through the process. In the case where a family would prefer a more practical rather than theoretical approach it is best to apply a care model that would be most beneficial to the patient and their family according to their current situation.
