Educational aspiration
Through my undergraduate studies in fine and performing arts at James Madison University and professional theatre experiences, I have a built a broad foundation that includes analyzing scripts, and communicating through drafting and model making. In my graduate studies, I would like to focus on developing my process for idea building and scenic design.

Artistic Influences
As with most people, my influences stem from my experiences. I first discovered movement-based theatre in high school. We worked in the abstract where the educational emphasis was on process, not entertainment. We were encouraged to work as an ensemble and were not limited by convention. In college I worked with a director whose approach was to use a lot of movement and find ways to create unconventional spaces.
More recently, I was moved by Then She Fell, by Third Rail Projects, (Elisabeth Svenningsen, Scenic Designer) performed at the Kingsland Ward at St. Johns in Brooklyn. I was surprised by how effective subtly was used in the design. The set had a curiously clever use of space that seamlessly transitioned form between reality and fantasy. It was also clear that there was significant collaboration between the set designer and choreographer. As a result, the set never took me out of the world of the
