Doctoral Studies are valued to me in many ways. By obtaining a Ph. D in Religion, that focuses on Religion, Culture, and Ethics will not only provide me with an indebt knowledge and research opportunities at a graduate level; but it will also serve as a foundation for a career in the academic field of religion. An academic career would allow me to continue my journey of lifelong psychological research and contributions to religion as it relates to the millennial culture. Attaining a Ph.D. in Religion would allow me to embark in my desired opportunity to teach, advocate, and counsel others while expanding my knowledge base and educational process.
As an African American, I personally notice the lack of minority representation in the academia especially in the field of Religion. Hence the deficit of African American women with Ph. D’s in Religion is a motivator for me to seek out a doctorate degree. Thus, there should be cultural diversity in the academic settings and more diversity in those persons researching religious culture issues.

I currently work as a research assistant in the Old Testament department at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) where I assist with classes and guiding students in the right direction with their studies. I have graded class assignments, taken class notes, assisted students, and lead class review sessions and discussions. Moreover, in order to expand my knowledge of the millennial culture, I regularly facilitate a mentoring program within my church district and I am a part of the Alabama Regional Board of Christian Education in the Christian Methodist Episcopal
