I feel as if I have many memorable experiences from Exploris. One of them is when I went to Hope Elementary. Whenever we went to Hope Elementary School, we were able to work with the little children to teach them the science they were supposed to learn during the year. The experience helped me to learn how to plan ahead. Another example is when I went on the Outward Bound trip.…

This was the year that allowed to discover that although I wanted to pull my hair out maybe a good 100 times, my class taught me that there is no better thing in life than making others happy and having the ability to surround yourself with those smiles. I realized that even by the smallest role, I can make a difference, and I knew that I wanted to do that for the rest of my life. This experience shaped out what I wanted out of life--…

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

This is when it was officially decided I would graduate from high school early so I joined IDLA’s 8-in-6 program. Ultimately this program sets you up to graduate a full two years early, but I got a late start so was only able to make it one year. Because of my extra online classes and skipping ahead, there was a lot of room left in my schedules for non-core classes. The extra room lead me to taking journalism classes and joining the yearbook team.…

Luther and Radovic’s work “Newspapers Frame Julian Assange Differently” focused on how Julian Assange is identified and whether he is portrayed as a journalist or not according to two U.S. Newspapers and two French Newspapers. The journal article goes into analysis of each newspaper and whether they have commended Assange to be a journalist or not. This source is helpful to the essay topic as it shows different opinions of the two nations, their newspaper’s endorsements and their governments private security. The strengths of this source is that there are many sources based purely off the Assange case. In the beginning, I wasn’t fond of beer, but after the project I found that I enjoyed beer more when paired with foods that I enjoy. I learned that different beers bring out and complement different flavors in food, for example, if you want to complement the flavor in a beer then you will match a key flavor found in the beer with a key flavor found in the food you wish to pair with. This rule generally follows the wine rule which is light with light and dark with dark. So a dark beer would pair with a heavier item such as a steak and a light beer would pair with a lighter item such as pasta. One of my favorite pairings in this project would have to be pairing the Drake's Hopocalypse DIPA with the caramel cheesecake.…

This article relates a lot to what we’ve learned in class. It connects to both evolution, geographic barriers, and natural selection. The evolution is how the birds became flightless and developed longer legs. The geographic barriers are the seas surrounding the island, allowing a safe haven for birds. Natural selection’s effect decreases since the birds do not need the ability to fly much anymore.…

The scholarly article I chose was “Dialects and Influences on the Academic Experiences of College Students”. Basically this study was conducted to see if dialect is a hindrance on the learning of students who do not speak the same dialect. This research is important because it could give teachers more insight on how to help students understand material better. The study brings to question why, in such a diverse country, is there only one form of proper English. Students cannot help where and how they were raised.…
