Family Assessment Paper According to Leslie Darmofal, a family’s resiliency is directly correlated to the strength of their bonds. The more resilient the family, the stronger they are together and the likelihood of them being able to overcome obstacles is significantly higher. In this paper, we are going to interview a typical family, look at their family dynamics, identify possible or occurring problems, and find ways that they can improve their resiliency.
Family Description EM grew up in a small town in WI. She went to high school in a small school with a graduating class of about 100, with little to no ethnic variation. She and her family were very involved in the Lutheran church. If it wasn’t making it to church every Sunday, it was volunteering at church during the week for different events. She is constantly getting into everything. She likes to make a mess of anything she can get her hands on. She is curious and always into mischief. She 's learning all the basics. Everything is new to her, so everything is exciting. She also copies anything any of the family members do such as clapping her hands or clicking her tongue. Overall EM states, “They are a handful each and every day, but I wouldn’t trade them for anything else.” In EM and RM’s free time they like to go on bike rides with the kids, go to the beach or lounge around the house and play board games. If EM and RM have someone watching the kids, they enjoy going out to eat and going to see a movie. EM enjoys bringing the kids to see their grandparents, aunts and uncles during the day. They spend each Sunday at church and sometimes church services during the week as well. The kids are not yet at the age to start school, but soon EM will be faced with the challenge of homeschooling her three children. Overall, the family lives a routine, but busy,
