Action Plan Facilitator
Goals
Define your goals - What does it mean to you to be an effective facilitator of adult learning? Think in terms of short term and long term goals. An effective facilitator of learning cultivates a healthy, safe, and positive learning environment. My role as a facilitator is to pose the necessary question to allow my learners critically think. In order to be an effective facilitator of adult learning, I must be able to assess my learners, then develop a plan that will define the objectives and most effectively communicate information. In terms of short term goals, I hope to provide fundamental health education to my learners. This can range from defining basic terminology to identifying my learner’s role as the patient.

I can help establish a safe environment in order for my learners to feel comfortable discussing health and what it encompasses. This allows for me to discern what my learners know and do not know. Then, I can correct or clarify any preconceived ideas my learners may have received. Through a conversation, I can discuss the basics in health education so that all of my students have the basic knowledge. In order to achieve my long-term goal, I can provide interactive presentations and simulations. Through demonstrations and practice, my students can learn about how health education can be applied to their daily lives and …show more content…
I can diminish these two barriers by seeking a mentor. A mentor can offer critique and advice to help improve my facilitation skills, provide the necessary resources to populate my knowledge, and better prepare me for any questions my learners may have.
Progress Reports
Monitor your progress - How will you evaluate your progress and how will you get feedback? From whom? When and how often? I will monitor my progress by assessing my learners’ knowledge and understanding through multiple choice and free-response questions. Multiple choice questions will provide me statistical data on which topics my learners know well while free-response questions allow my students to elaborate and explain their understanding. I will also distribute an anonymous survey for my learners to fill out every three months. By combining these two sets of data, I will able to evaluate my proficiency and determine what I need to improve on.
