Evolving Technology

Over the past two decades, technology has become an increasing part of American’s lives. One area that has seen a dramatic increase in technology is the education system and the students in them. This displays itself in the increased amount of technology that high school students own. Students possess more technology than ever; classrooms and schools have taken advantage of technology and equipped themselves with smart-boards, computer labs, and devices for disabled. As a result of this increase in technology, problems such as cyber bullying and plagiarism have arisen. Even with some disadvantages, the advantages of technology have greatly helped the education system. Evolving technology has allowed schools to better serve disabled students, prepare students for the real world, and help students gain more knowledge about the world. With new advances in technology, students with both physical and mental disabilities can attend and participate in school easier. Technological advances in wheelchairs have allowed disabled students to participate in activates and sports with their fellow students. Many classes such as English or business, require students to use programs, such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, which many business use. By using tools in Microsoft Word, teachers show students how to organize their papers’ and make them more grammatically sound-skills that they will need in the future. In addition, various business classes use computers and spreadsheets to teach students how to correctly track the stock market and financial investments. As a result, students gain valuable knowledge that will help them make wise investments as adults.
