Evolution Of The Natural Trumpet

Improved Essays
The trumpet can be traced back around 1500 B.C there were silver and bronze trumpets found in king tuts grave. There were different versions of it found in china that look like the trumpet. Instrument design, as well as metal making, improved tremendously over the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, which made these "natural trumpets" more suitable for creating actual music However, these trumpets did not have valves and could only produce a small amount of notes. Also, changing the key meant that you had to change different pipes on the horn. In fact, many examples of the "natural trumpet" can be found easily on You Tube. Due to its limited amount of notes, usage of the natural trumpet started to fade during the Classical and Romantic periods.

The powder horn, stemming from colonial America, evolved through multiple time periods to fit the demands of the military during the Revolutionary Era. They used to be considered an art form rather than a tool for battle in colonial America. Makers hand-picked larger, more sturdy horns and became a widespread and necessary tool in the 1700's. Despite the powder horn being predominately used in combat, the art form was not relinquished, thus leaving behind not only a significant piece of history for tools in battle, but a piece of elaborate art alongside…

TCU affords me the opportunity to move away from my hometown, Waco, it allows me to select from any of the majors I've considered; it provides me all of the resources I need to learn and excel; and it means I get to cheer on one of the best football teams in the nation, all while being in a faith-growing environment. I found, during my campus tour, the aspect I was most impressed by was the TCU spirit. Every student my tour group encountered wore a prideful smile, excitedly greeting their peers and every now and then one would yell a “Go frogs!”.…
