When the United States entered the war in 1917, there were no medical corps established. During the war, the US army copied medical tactics the french had used for the past three years in order to keep the troops healthy enough to fight. This system arranged military medical staff in a practical manner. The medics would come to the trenches with their stretchers and give the wounded treatment aid that often saved lives.
