The chapter is titled “What is evolutionary biology and where did it come from” so from that alone we know that the origins of evolution are to follow. A lot of things are mentioned in this chapter such as the heirchy of living things which is referred to as “The Great Chain of Being.” This idea was first introduced by Aristotle in ancient Greece, but is still used as a general mindset of how the biological and social food chain works to this day. There is a section that mentions a lot about finches which is true that they played an important role in Darwin’s studies, but it is not made clear that it was only after the book Darwin’s Finches was published. In the early teachings of evolution, finches were not mentioned. The third chapter of the book goes in to more scientific detail about how the science of evolution works. There is a lot of talk about DNA and different biological terms that are specific to the biological or chemistry studies. There is a lot of scientific facts that are brought up and a lot of evidence that is used to counteract the creationist viewpoints but there isn’t a great comparison between the two beliefs. The book is more of a rebuttal against claims that were made outside of the book. The book didn’t do a great job discussing the battle between the creationist and the evolutionist. There was talk in the preface about how some of the notable cases, such as the time when Tennessee banned the teaching of evolution in schools, but not in the book itself. Most of the cases that are noticed throughout time have to do with teachings in public schools and what should be taught. The book was intended to further back up a young evolutionist stand against
