Exercise 1: Assessing Color Variation Among Males in Guppy Populations

Upper West Stream Male # | Spot Brightness | 1 | 19 | 2 | 13 | 3 | 13 | 4 | 13 | 5 | 16 | 6 | 14 | 7 | 17 | 8 | 16 | 9 | 14 | 10 | 16 | 11 | 17 | 12 | 18 | 13 | 13 | 14 | 14 | 15 | 17 |
Notes:
* Rivulus species also found in stream * Female guppies have no spots * Small amount of Rivulus compared to guppies * Adequate amount of food for the guppies

Histogram:

Hired Assistant:
Upper West: This is a similar distribution to the one I made. Although it is a smaller sample the distribution is similar.

Upper East: No predators large population.

Meir Creek: Two different predators no guppies, large amount of

The predictions were also supported for with the addition of each predator a similar spot brightness distribution was found in each tank. With the addition of rivulus there was a distribution with bright spots as seen in figures 5, 9 and 13. These distributions were very similar to the distribution found in figure 1 which supports the first prediction. With the presence of cichlid A there was a distribution found with less bright spots as seen in figures 6, 10, and 14. These distributions are similar to the distribution found in figure 2 however in figure 2 the spot intensities were even lower than those found in this experiment. With the addition of cichlid B it was expected to find a distribution with a middle range of spot brightness, which was seen in figures 7, 11, and 15. These distributions were very similar to the proposed distribution found in figure 3. I think that the spot brightness on the guppies
