In the novel, Lord of the Flies, By William Golding, the evilness of a person grows when there is a lack of order, shown when Golding shows how people get exceptions from rules, the way of government is destroyed,and conflict of leadership is seen, thus proving that order is important to prevent people’s evilness from growing. This is shown through every character being represented through historical figures for example Jack represents Adolf Hitler, Roger represents Joseph Stalin, Simon represents Franklin D Roosevelt, Piggy represents Neville Chamberlain, and Ralph represents Winston Churchill. It is important consider how Simon is behaves in the book and what the author wants people to interpret him being as hope brought to the group of boys or maybe the light that leads the boys out of the dark. But the boys don’t take Simon seriously and ended up mistaking Simon for the one thing that he believed was the beast, the darker side of the boys. “ During his second term, the Supreme Court accused Roosevelt of being a Dictator. The blue white scar was constant, the noise unendurable. Simon was crying out something about a dead man on a hill. Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood! Do him in! The sticks fell and the mouth of the new circle crunched and screamed.” … “Simon’s dead body moved out toward the open sea”(152-153). These quotes represent how similar Simon is to Franklin D. Roosevelt. They were accused for a “crime” they didn't commit. Simon was killed because the group of boy misunderstand him as the beast.Simon got killed for no reason. Instead he was just trying to help the boys clear their misunderstanding. Also Roosevelt was accused of being a dictator during his terms while he was one of the greatest presidents America had.
