In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, the young boys become vicious and violent towards each other, the question this brings up is why they became evil. Although humans are moral in our natural state we are still prone to commit acts of unthinkable evil. Reasons for evil morals and actions include: the desperation for power, a person’s past or present environment, and mob mentality.
People, sometimes even children, want to feel power over someone or something. All humans have this desire, however it is the means of getting this power that defines them as commendable or beastly.
