Nursing research and evidence-base practice has contributed to an increase in nursing knowledge and improved outcomes for patients (American Nurses Association, 2010). Registered Nurses must be able to critically think and provide appropriate interventions to ensure that patients are cared for. Improved patient outcomes have been a result of nurses having their own body of knowledge (Dearholt & Dang, 2012). Nurses are legally and ethically accountable for their actions and need to be able to have research available that allows them to meet their standards of care.
