Evidence Based Nursing Practice: Case Study

1. In exploring the ARHQ site, I found that it was really focused on informing patients, but it also has a lot of valuable information I can learn as well. By learning this information, I will be able to better inform my own patients. I liked the link that said patient involvement because it does a good job of teaching patients what they can do to be more involved in their healthcare. It also has links to teach consumers on healthcare costs and choosing health care plans for themselves and their families. All of this information is important for me to know to help improve my practice because patients will expect me to be able to answer the questions and lead them in the right direction. The link for preventing errors is also very good for healthcare providers and the patients as well. When I googled the terms “evidence based nursing practice” most of the links that came up were mainly .edu with some .org, .gov, and .com. I feel like .edu were most helpful because I know they are reliable and full of good information.
a. I found that the link http://libguides.ohsu.edu/ebptoolkit is very helpful in the clinical site. It would be helpful because it uses a lot of graphics and charts that are easy to understand. There is also a link that is titled “how to ask searchable clinical questions” which would be very applicable to the clinical site. It also explains the different models of care and was last updated November 3, 2015 so I know the information is up to date.
b. I believe that the link http://guides.lib.unc.edu/c.php?g=8362&p=43029 would be good for my educational endeavors because it provides a lot of information on what evidence based practice is and why it is important. It also has links to other scholarly articles, journals, and databases that would be good for research papers about the topic or just to make yourself more informed on evidenced based
