Introduction
Evidence based medicine has long been held in high esteem by physicians and for good reason. It provides the best possible roadmap for improving quality care for patients. In addition, certain clinical practice guidelines (CPG) have been established as part of the specific paradigm involving electronic medical record (EMR) keeping. This has all been designed to improve patient well-being, give physicians an opportunity to make informed decisions, and improve overall efficiency at healthcare facility. However, some physicians are hesitant to adhere to these principles, mostly because they lack knowledge on the subject. Luckily, many strategies can assist in the adherence of CPG involving EMR in reference …show more content…
The entire point of using CPG in clinical care is to deliver the most scientifically updated and viable findings into use with patients at the point of care (Kenefick, Lee, & Fleishman, 2008). Thus, it represents a transition from scientific study into practical care for physicians to utilize for the best care of their patients while visiting a healthcare facility. The studies are done for the simple fact of gleaning improvements on current care practices and thus should be understood by physicians whenever applicable and then put into practice as soon as possible. By doing this, both the healthcare provider and the individual physician will be fulfilling the end component of a long line of a clinical theory chain that began with a hypothesis designed to improve …show more content…
If the barriers to implementation cannot be overcome, the patients will most likely suffer while under the care of their physicians. An extremely simply yet effective means of getting physicians to adhere to the newly established CPG involved in their practice is having a reminder set up for them to actually use the CPGs they have chosen for implementation (Eytan & Goldberg, 2001). This can of course be used in the practical application of CPGs due to the constant distractions and specific particulars involved in clinical care. Healthcare facilities can chaotic environments, and oftentimes the lack of adherence to using certain CPGs can be due to this hectic situation. Thus using minor yet consistent reminders to place the actual CPG needed in certain scenarios can and does increase the adherence
