The key stakeholders that may be involve in the evidence based project are the hospital administration such as Chief Operating Officers (CEO), Chief Nursing Officers (CNO) and the Medical Director. The hospital administration is key to the project because hospital equipment is necessary to carry out the project. Other stakeholders outside the immediate circle of those conducting the study would be those who provide funding for the research. Groups involved in complimentary, alternative, holistic, and integrative therapies would be approached to provide financial support to complete the study. A champion is someone who can overcome the barriers in implementing evidence-based practice (EBP). A champion for this project would be identified as a nurse practitioner or CNO. The CNO is the leader of the hospital and could help in enforcing and encouraging people and help get understanding from other on the implication and the purpose on decreasing morbidity and mortality in pregnant women within the hospital. The NP believes in the concepts of the study, willingness, and ability to advance the use of EBP with other healthcare disciplines (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2014). The authors’ evidence based project involves full participation from the obstetric physician because, the project involves though assessment and medication administration and it is important that providers are aware of the impact as well as the risk involved with their patients. Change is often seen as reluctant and rarely easily adapted as the change can be complex, chaotic and convoluted. Lewin implemented his theory of change in the 1950s to address the three levels of change –unfreeze, change and refreeze (Stichler, 2011). In Lewin Change Theory, prior learning must be replaced in order to enforce change to occur. The theory uses the model of unfreezing-change-refreezing to promote change (Kritsonis, 2005). The propositions of the Change Theory are the driving forces should be pushed in a direction that can cause change to occur and this can cause a shift in the equilibrium (Kritsonis, 2005). The restraining forces are countering the driving forces. This pushes the act or person in an opposite direction and can cause a change in the equilibrium to shift in the opposite direction and, the equilibrium is where the driving forces and restraining forces are equal and no change occurs (Kritsonis, 2005).
