Within the learning segment, I have an assessment planned for generating evidence-based claims. Once the students complete the lab activity in lesson two, they will be given “Evidence-Based Claims” worksheets. These worksheets allow the students to write down their question, claim, evidence, and reasonings supporting their claims. The evidence portion of this worksheet will be based on the students’ recordings and observations of the lab activity. The students will be fulfilling the Common Core standard ELA/Literacy - RST.9-10.7: translate quantitative or technical information expressed in words in a text into visual form (e.g., a table or chart) and translate information expressed visually or mathematically (e.g., in an equation) into words.
