The Evian Conference had potential. President Franklin D. Roosevelt stood up for was right and introduced the Evian Conference to the rest of the world despite not having support from The League of Nations. President Roosevelt offered to open up its doors for 140,000 Jewish refugees even when America was going through a terrible depression. The following year his promised was fulfilled. He encourages other countries to do the same however; few countries were willing to follow his footsteps. America was just about the only country that was willing to help the Jewish refugees. The most disappointing part was that the countries that attended the conference claimed that they would take in Jewish refugees made it extremely difficult for Jews to attain
