In a study by BGR.com they found that in 2014 ¨an average gamer spends 22 hours a week playing games¨, they also stated that they expected that number to rise dramatically by the year 2020. Just from past knowledge a person 13 years or older is either in school or at work anywhere from 8 to 16 hours a day. So, if the average gamer plays games 22 hours a week and goes to work 13 hours a day for 7 days that includes weekends, there are 168 hours in a week, so a gamer who goes to work 13 hours a day comes home plays games and goes to sleep for 6 hours everyday would only have 20 hours a week to eat, shower, drive, and spend time with their family, That's not a lot at all.
In conclusion, the idea that video games are good for your mental development is absolutely false, not only do they not help your brain in anyway they take most of your time you have left after work to do anything with your family or do anything for that matter. As stated earlier in this essay video games do not have any mental benefits and are not useful in anyway besides an entertainment
