According to Waste Management, the average American will throw away nearly 600 times their body weight in their lifetime. Furthermore, less than 22% of this waste is recycled. I am here to advocate the importance of recycling, especially in our own community. People of all ages need to make the extra effort to recycle for a multitude of reasons. Recycling helps save the environment, conserves resources, reduces landfill space and saves money. Recycle Across America states that recycling is the top action society can do to simultaneously improve the environment, the economy and sustainable manufacturing.
