23 February 2017 1st place, 2nd place, last place. These days it seems like no matter what place you get you receive some sort of prize or award. I don’t think that everyone should receive a prize because that way kids won’t be learning anything for the real world when they grow up, not everyone deserves it, and getting first won’t seem like such a big deal. If kids are rewarded for everything they do, no matter how well they do it that won’t be preparing them for the real world. They deserve to be recognized for their hard work, not compared to the others who didn’t try. I believe that not everyone should receive an award, and that there shouldn’t be participation awards. If everyone if given an award kids won’t be learning anything for the real world when they grow up, not everyone deserves it, and getting first wouldn’t seem like such a big deal. By giving them awards no matter how they do, that is teaching them that they don’t have to put in effort and they will still get praised. It teaches them that they can be lazy. Kids should be recognized for their hard work and determination towards something, not their willingness to simply
