Everyman's Journey

Improved Essays
In the play Everyman, Everyman is sent on a journey to his death by God who is upset with him. God is upset with Everyman because he feels like Everyman is ungrateful for everything he has done for him. Along his journey he loses friends and he gains friends.
Before Everyman went on his journey he comes to the realization that he doesn’t want to die alone so he goes to his friends for help. First, he goes to his closest friend Fellowship to ask if he will join him on his journey. But Fellowship tells him, “Whether ye have loved me or no, by Saint John, I will not thee go,”(Anonymous,1485). When he goes to his friends he tells them that he wants them all to come along on the journey with him. Everyman tells death that he is not ready to die yet. Then, Everyman moves on to his friend he believes will definitely accompany him on his journey to death and that friend is Cousin. And once again he is turned down when Cousin responds, “Cousin Everyman, farewell now, for verily I will not go with you,”.(Anonymous,1485) This shows Everyman

He thinks of him as his bestfriend in reality 5-wits is his 5 senses. "For I took you my best friend"(Anonymous,1485). 5-wits to Everyman is someone he depends on because without him he would be nothing. Goods is an abstract idea because goods represents all the things Everyman holds onto. “Nay, not so, I am, to brittle, I may endure, I will follow no man one foot, be ye sure”(Anonymous,1485). What Goods means is that he’s too fragile and will not go anywhere with him. In the play Everyman, there were so many great moral lessons that should be learned. The best one is Everyone will face death and nothing of anyone's items or goods, friends, or good deeds can prevent them from facing death.
