“Every man must come to terms with death,” (Paulson, 2007). Death can be defined in different ways. Some would define it as the end of life. Others would say that it is akin to being asleep for after death, we are unconscious and oblivious of the time that has passed. The bible tells us this in Ecclesiastes 12:7, “The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”(NIV). When death is near our soul, whether physically or spiritually, is separated and from what is shown in the play known as “Everyman”, Death becomes a significance which brings people to the attention of what death is. The interpretation of death can vary in many ways. Overall, though, it should be agreed that death is a destination people …show more content…
Each form of death is known to have some type of reason and goal for why they do the things they do. Some people might not agree with “Everyman” and its version of death, but there should not be any disputes that death’s representation in the play gave an epiphany to some who never bothered to discuss death and where they will go after they die. “Everyman” is such an ethical way to proceed with what some people are curious to ask. What we all know is that Death was sent to Everyman by God and since we know that Everyman is the representation of mankind, then we can conclude that sooner or later people around the world will feel scared if they were told they were going to die. Knowing how much time you have to live will make any person do the same as Everyman. No one wants to go to Hell and it should be noted that for some they don’t know who God is or what to believe in. Death is there to help people recognize the situation at hand. He helps Everyman realizes things like how he must make a reckoning before God. “Death’s entrance introduces the question of Everyman’s right relationship to the world in which he lives”. (Paulson, 2007). Death is trying to help whether we fear it or not Death is always there. Death is its own educator and in some way it is divine, it gives people that push to appreciate their lives and what good and influence they can have to others who feel that their …show more content…
Are you not here, working with me…Are you not standing there, Death, enduring my life?” (Jiménez, 2006). As said before, people tend to fear the unknown. Whenever someone feel like they are in danger, their instincts kick in and to them it feels as though someone was protecting them. No one wants to face danger which is why some people are cautious and paranoid of their surroundings. Why is it that people fear death? People have their own beliefs and some people know where they are going but for others they feel that death is a never-ending state of nothingness, a place of darkness that is an absence of everything. Some people fear death because they may fear that they haven’t made a difference in their lives and will regret doing nothing at all. They are afraid of dying because they want to live. Sometimes it not what happens after you die. Some people just don’t want to die, to experience death. Fearing death gives some people more reason to live a longer life then they thought they would. “Will I not be Death, your death, that you, Death, must love and indulge and fear?” (Jiménez, 2006). Every person has their own perspective of death and some just don’t want to hear anything about it; however, if given any kind of information about what Death is, would it ease some people, will people try harder to do well in their lives? Some might not have an answer but for others, knowing the unknown tends to give them better insight. It is better to

Death has always been seen as the essence of misery, darkness, and evil. When people are exposed to the concept of dying, they are frightened, because death leads to lands that are unknown to man. Even though people do not understand it, the unknown world of the afterlife is assumed to be cold and lonely, an inescapable void. People, when they think of death, are reminded of how they lost their loved ones to it, how they have mourned those they will never be able to see again. However, while this is the widespread view of the afterlife, there are people who see death as a new beginning.…

In many works of literature what happens after death is a common theme found throughout many different styles and authors. Through the analysis of Hamlet, Obasan, ¨The Open Boat,¨ and ¨The River Clarion¨ it is easy to see that many of the authors share similar views on mortality and how people should deal with it. I agreed with nearly every author, in different ways, but overall I feel that we should be able to accept death, but not spend our lives worrying about it. Instead we should spend our time making the most of our own lives, and being the best we can be, and as Hamlet believed, we should just let…

The play Everyman, written by an anonymous author, first appeared in England during the Sixteenth Century. It is a morality play, which leaves its audience or readers something to ponder on. It is actually considered to be one of the greatest morality plays to this day. It seems as though the author wanted to remind the society, that death will come to everyman, death will not spare a single soul, and humanity needs to understand that, and prepare themselves. Nobody knows how long they will be on this Earth, as it says in Job 14:5, “Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, tho hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass.”…
