Define the problem/research question The purpose of the study was to assess the frequency of racist incidents on a daily bases experienced by African-American students a predominately white public institution.
Relevant topic
The topic is very important. There are a lot of challenges that African-American students face on a predominately white campus. There are incidents of racial profiling, and microagressions that occur inside and outside of the classroom. Those who make policies need to ensure that students are able to enjoy their college experience free from harassment.
Hypothesis/hypotheses
No hypothesis was stated, but if I had to infer one it would be that African-American face some form of harassment on a daily bases at predominately white institution.

A quantitative and qualitative assessment of everyday racism was captured in daily diaries. The daily log allowed for the capture of data in a timely manner. The logs included characterization of the incidents, participants’ emotional responses, and participants’ behavioral responses. It also allowed for the frequency of the events to be a part of the sample. Combining an open-ended, qualitative diary format with an extensive guided-survey instrument allows participants to describe incidents and allowed the researcher to test for patterns and relationships. The daily diary also allowed for detail information for incident by incident to be captured.
