It all started when someone left the window open. Uno could tell from the purple shine of the UV lamp posts outside that it was now night time. He climbed onto the windowsill and braced himself for the jump. He knew he shouldn't leave but his own curiosity was to much to bear. The purple light danced upon his being as he fell from the window, and landed on the artificial grass with plop. It was the year 2512. It had been 300 years since the natural light had graced the earth's surface. Every semblance of yellow light, even artificial was now gone. The world had been swallowed in darkness, but still some like Uno believed that one day the Earth would again be a place where the sun rises. Now having recovered from his fall Uno took off. He was …show more content…
He and Uno had read that London, where they lived had once been home to one of the most beautiful sun rises. Uno rounded the street corner and cut through some "bushes" to the back of Everest's house. He knocked on his friends window hoping he was awake. A very tired Everest opened the window and peeked his head through. "Uno what are you doing here", he said. "I'm going to find the light tonight Everest, and I want you to come with me", Uno returned. "Uno you can't be serious. You know as well as I do that light doesn't exist in this world anymore. You wouldn't be able to find it in your whole lifetime let alone an evening"(). "Well I won't know until I try. If you don't want to go with me that's fine, but I promise you I'll find the light and I'll show it to you and everyone"(). Uno ran from his friends house before his statement could be replied to. He ran out of his neighborhood and to the woods. (). He had never ventured this far from his house before, so he knew this would be the first place he'd look. As he approached the woods he noticed something. The plants in the woods looked different from the ones he was used to. He touched the trunk of a tree and then he realized they were

Reflecting on the college application process, I noticed that the college essays were stressed very highly, but all the prompts ask for the same thing. Whether they are asking for an eventful moment, your passion, a hobby, or a chosen outsourced prompt, many students seem to convey the same messages in their essays. To get around this, one must ask a more inconspicuous prompt where the student’s character shows through their unique ideas. A prompt that is universal, conveys a meaning, and is always answered uniquely must ask for a narrative: Write a creative story. Walking through the woods one night, Agatha Johansson could not wait to arrive at her friend’s house.…

1.“And I love light. Perhaps you’ll think it strange that an invisible man should need light” (page 6, chapter 1) The invisible utilizes a mocking and ironic tone to tell the audiences that he actually loves light as an invisible man. This “ironic” fact can be a foreshadow to the end of the story where the invisible man is ready to emerge from the underground and return to the lightness of the public world. Also, the invisible man’s obsession to light can indicate that he is never entirely invisible, and there are always some aliveness and purpose inside his heart that require him to take his time to discover and identify.…

Paul Bogard, writer of the article, “Let There Be Dark,” presents interesting and engaging information to gain support for the reduction of artificial light pollution in our night skies. He displays the importance of changing from the current state by giving us some reasons why we can’t let the light pollution progress, examples of how we can fix it, and engages our feelings of responsibility when we see that we need to take care of our world. The first point he makes is a common daily occurrence in our world. He writes how, “Life evolved to the steady rhythm of bright days and dark nights,” he states that we have gotten out of the natural rhythm, and how instead of the natural pattern of day and night, we now turn on the light in our houses…

For my Field Study Day I had a confusing turn of events that caused me to go and a research paper on the movie Everest. My original plan was to volunteer at the Elks Lodge but when we arrived there we couldn’t find anyone and waited an hour and a half before leaving. We tried going to a few places nearby, like a church and a retirement home to ask if there were any volunteer opportunites to no avail. So as a last ditch effort we went to the movies and saw Everest. This movie is based on an expedition up Mt. Everest that went wrong back in 1996, it was one of the deadliest expeditions up the mountain ever.…
