Ever After; Cinderella Did you know, in the movie Ever After, the characters are less dimwitted than in the

fairy tale “Cinderella”? The movies prince doesn’t need a bird to tell him he has the wrong girl.

The movie is better and with characters who actually think.

Both the movie and fairy tale are different, but they are also the same. For example, in

both stories the father got a new wife along with two new step children. The new

children and wife are of course mean to Cinderella and Danielle. The two daughters, Cinderella

and Danielle, get the happily ever after they deserve. In addition, Cinderella and Danielle both

get the prince in the end. Danielle deserved the prince and the happy ever after, just like

Cinderella.

The original version provide a narrower outlook on the story and can easily set up unrealistic expectations for young girls. This change alters the theme from good conquering evil to a story between a mother and daughter. As part of Maitland’s new theme, she promotes a feminist message within her version of the fairytale. This allows her to establish a moral with a larger meaning. Because of this version, more people can come to the realization that there is a far greater “happily ever after” for the princess who doesn’t wait around for the prince to come sweet her off her feet, but instead who is strong enough to provide herself with her own happy…

The last time she leaves behind a golden shoe on the staircase the Prince had covered with pitch. When the Prince brings the shoe around looking for his true bride, as only the woman whose foot fits into the slipper can be his true bride, the evil stepsisters both cut off a part of their foot in an attempt to fool the Prince and in the end neither sister was truly his bride. When passing birds, which had helped Cinderella with the tasks her stepmother had given her to prevent her from going to the ball and also presented her with the wardrobe each night she went to the ball, also informed the prince each time he passed with one of the step-sisters that they had a bloody foot in the slipper and each time he took them back. At last he asks the stepmother if she has any other daughter and she says no, but the father mentions Cinderella and even refers to her as “a little stunted kitchen-wench my late wife left behind her, but she cannot possibly be the bride.” The prince insists she try on the shoe, which fit of course.…

For example, there is always an evil villain, or in this case the stepmothers and stepsisters. In the two stories, Cinderella and Cendrillon, both of the girls are treated poorly by their stepmothers and sisters.…

We know that it IS possible to resurrect people - the best example of it being Lord Beric Dondarrion, who was brought back to life 6 TIMES by Thoros of Myr, the Red Priest of R'hllor. In some instances as in both movies, some people meet their soul mate early in their lives but somehow get disconnected from them until later on in life. Perhaps the most essential elements in finding true love and happiness are hope and persistency. We must all be like Cinderella and Sam and hope that one day we will overcome life challenges that prevent us from being happy and successful. We must also embody the characters of Prince Christopher and Austin in that we should be persistent and never give up on finding our soul mate. Both movies of the Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and A Cinderella Story depict different versions of the story of Cinderella but they both share the same concepts and themes: mistreatment of a young girl by her step mother and step sisters, the importance of father figures in a young girl’s life and the hope of finding true love and living happily ever after.…

Even though Cinderella two wicked step-sisters were heartless and arrogant, “she still embraced them and forgave them with all her heart and married them to two great lords of the Court”. In the Grimm’s brother’s version, the folktale ended violently and fiercely because “the two step-sister’s eyes were pecked out by pigeons for their wickedness and falsehood” and they were blind as long as they lived. According to Maria Tatar the author of numerous articles on fairy tales and also ten scholarly books, “fairy tales have modeled behavioral codes and development paths, even as they provide us with terms for thinking about what happens in our world”…

"Obsessed by a fairytale, we spend our lives searching for a magic door and a lost kingdom of peace" (Eugene O'Neill). People are brought up being taught that that a fairytale is a fictional story that may feature folkloric characters and enchantments, often involving a far fetched sequence of events. But the reality is fairytales are fabricated stories, intended to deceive the reader. Disney deceives its readers by heavily fluffing up its stories with enchantment, taking away the story line from the original tale.
