My family owns one car, it is a 2016 Mazda ISport. It costs around $490 a month and fits all five people in my family. I have always wanted a sports car but they are much too expensive, yet this car has the look of a sports car but not the high price of one. I did not have to pay for child care because my wife stays home and looks after them before and after school while I am still at work. I decided to buy almost all of my food in bulk, it really saved me a lot of money and was much more efficient. I did have a lot of repeated meals but almost all of them had some type of fruit or vegetable and protein. I decided to take my kids to entertainment that is free so that they can learn to love the small things and so I can save money for better trips in the future for my family and I and for retirement. I loved doing this project, it has been my favorite project in any class this year. While some people may think of event management as a degree in party planning, it is gaining credibility as a legitimate career. The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council created event management standards which also led to the definition of exactly what an event is (Robertson, 2015). An event is “a social form that organizes interaction in a distinctive way” or the “gathering of three or more people who agree to assemble for a purpose ostensibly related to the functioning of an organization or group” (Beaulie, 2004). According to Michael Auerbach, “in 2006 there were 51,000 event planners in the U.S. and 39% of those were within an event planning company” which demonstrates the grand size of the industry and its obvious importance to society (2015). The purpose of this paper is to explore a career in event planning.…
