Evata Play Analysis

I recently enjoyed the Frisco Community Theatre production of EVITA the musical. The message I took in while watching this play is follow your dreams no matter what. This message was perhaps very clear to the audience because the main character would not settle for anything less even though she was getting backlash for stealing the love interest of another character. The directors, actors, and designers were very distinguished in transporting us to where the story takes place.
A theatrical practice is costuming that helped convey the message of this musical. Ronald Wainscott and Kathy the authors of the textbook Theatre: Collaborative Acts State that there are four variables when it comes to costume design which this musical uses color and texture are the variables they used. Every scene a dancing a bit of dancing that is common in the streets of during the time period. So the costumes had to be moveable and not so tight that no one could move. The main character costume might have slightly changed from a commoner to royalty but her outfits seemed like if she wanted to she can still dance. She had an amazing wedding dress that and the more extinguished jewelry were the only significant difference in her costume. Perry’s film is the latest interpretation of Shange’s landmark work which was conceived over 35 years ago and was first performed in 1974 as a series of poetic monologues accompanied by dance and music at The Bacchanal bar in Berkeley, California. From my understanding of the play fuenteovejuna, it was about a small town of people that were under the rule of a King and Queen by names King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabel I of united Spain. Because they kingdom had a lot of subdivisions, they had to appoint a commander by the name Gomez to rule who was previously a warden. Although the play was not well detailed and expressive, it did have a good but simple stage set up displaying the ordinary people who lived in the small town undergoing their simple professions and lifestyles. The play did portray the message effectively; the actors did a very good job, they were very clear and understandable. I could tell that this was not a modern play through the costumes the actors used in the play;…

When designing the costumes for A Raisin in the Sun careful consideration must be taken in order to make sure that the costumes fit the time period. The choice of costumes is very important for the performance of the play because costumes can indicate a character’s sex, occupation, status, position, flamboyance/modesty and degree of independence. As a costume designer there are the following main objectives: to help set the tone and style of the production, to establish the locale and period in which the play takes place, to indicate the natures of the characters or groups in the…
