Evaluative Essay Assignment There are many reasons as to why houses are better than apartments. One reason is that you are paying thousands of dollars every year to rent an apartment, and in the end you are not owning anything. Another reason is that you do not have to be so close to your neighbors, and you have your own privacy. Most importantly, houses are more for families, whereas apartments are more like temporary homes for couples. First of all, I can not say that I'm buying a house, but I do believe that I am wasting my money on rent each month. Houses are better in the way that they have backyards with fences for your children to play in. Since I live in a duplex, which is considered an apartment, my children need to be supervised more strictly when they play outside. There is no telling when a car could be driving by, and my child runs out to the street since there is no fence. This is just one example of how apartments are less family oriented. Another example would be if you live in an upstairs apartment, and your children are stomping all over the floor, it could cause some sort of dispute between your neighbor. Also, when you are living in an upstairs apartment, it is more dangerous to your children in a case that they might fall down the stairs causing them to get brain damage. When you're living in a house you are more settled, and your family is able to grow there. In addition, you are always able to make renovations to your house, because you are buying it. If your children wanted to go to the park, then you can just make them one in the back yard, or even a club house. These are the types of things that you are not permitted to do in an apartment. Another thing that makes apartments not family friendly, is that they are usually small and crowded, and don't allow pets. There is just not enough space in an apartment for all of your children's junk. Of course you have a storage closet in every room, but for some people it is just not enough space. In a house you have attics, back yards with sheds, and garages for storage. When you have a family, your children are most likely going to want a pet, and what better place to have a pet than a house with a yard.
