Evaluation Plan
When designing an evaluation plan of data, the researcher has to choose methods that are influenced by the feasibility of that project to include all aspects of that study. An evaluation plan is a process that critically examines a project (Polit & Beck, 2013). This evaluation plan involves collecting and analyzing information about the projects activities, characteristics, and outcomes. The purpose of this process is to see if the outcomes will improve the proposed problem. The following paper will discuss the evaluation plan of the practice project to implement negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) on a unit at UF Health. The evaluation plan includes methods used in collecting the outcome data, how the outcome measures will

The working environment has daily challenges with heavy workloads, high patient acuities, staffing shortages, and little resources. This can create a challenge to implementing a new practice such as NPWT. Although this may appear impossible, there are strategies that can be followed to gain cooperation from everyone involved in that new practice. According to Jarrett (2013), role modeling, staff opportunities and support can be used to overcome these challenges. Staff will receive support from management and leaders within the hospital as well as the training needed to have a successful outcome. This will make the staff feel like they are part of the solution and not the problem. Other barriers can include fears, anxiety, lack of knowledge, or misperceptions of what the study is about. With the support of the organization and leaders, these barriers can be eliminated. Research has shown that nurses have the desire to improve patient outcomes. Providing the appropriate tools (education, support, and resources) for evidence based practice (EBP) studies, potential negative results can turn into positive results. When a research study has clear guidelines, education, and support, the results can be …show more content…
58). They usually test the current practice characteristics and capabilities. They also provide a means to evaluate the different aspect approaches in healthcare while using a platform to generate new data development. The collected results of this study will be discussed with the clinical manager, supervisors, diabetic clinical educator, case manager, physicians, and wound specialist nurse at the completion of the study in September 2017. The results will then be revised, applied, or rejected. If the results are applied, all nurses will need to be educated to ensure this new process will be successfully implemented hospital wide. This will allow for future research to continue on the use of NPWT in the hospital

Determining the strength of a nursing research study is a critical process that enhances the implementation of evidence-based practice. Determining the strength of a nursing research study ensures that the empirical knowledge developed through nursing research is useful in improving nursing care, the system of healthcare delivery, and patient outcomes. Additionally, nurses should use research findings when making clinical decisions on the best practice to use in order to deliver healthcare services that ensure all the patients receive safe and quality care (Melnyk et al. 2014). Therefore, determining the strength of a nursing research study helps to ensure the evidence is credible (valid and reliable) and is appropriate if incorporated into clinical practice.…

The purpose of this post is to describe the role of nurse leaders in promoting evidence based practice. I will describe strategies used for implementation of change in evidence based practice; discuss the influences that are changing health care culture including current issues and trends, and compare the nursing work group culture with other organizational cultures. An important part of the nursing leader role is to influence the culture and climate in the department (Huber, 2014). Nurse leaders must have an accurate understanding of the culture and climate of their unit to be able to implement change effectively. A leader needs to create a vision that encourages and inspires nurses to take part in the evidence based change.…

This machine transmits constant or intermittent pressure throughout the wound for optimal healing. “Cyclic irrigation of the wound optimizes healing by removing devitalized tissue, debris, infectious agents, and preparing the wound bed for closure” (Heitzman, 2011, p. 251). In several studies, NPWT has not only proven its effectiveness in healing wounds through wound granulation, faster healing time, and reduced amputations, but is cost effective for patients (Heitzman, 2011). The proposed EBP of NPWT will complement the current policy in place for standard wound care methods. It is also important to emphasize that a multidisciplinary effort…
