Describe how you would choose clinical sites to complement the syllabus that you developed for Week 5? Include both a simulation and off-campus experience.

Health promotion in nursing clinical experiences could be attained in a verity of settings. In order to choose a clinical site(s) that complement the course. I would use the service learning model (Mueller,2016). I would choose a clinical site(s) that interact with the community and governmental agencies. Involving the students in the community around the university benefit all stakeholders. Prior to selection of the site I would conduct or review community assessments to see where the greatest needs are that matches the mission and objectives of the course. Clinical sites can be can be based in a community, private, non-profit, office/managerial, clinical, educational, group home or a hospital setting.

For simulation for health promotion I would have the students use low fidelity simulation

Pre-conference would be a presentation of the goals and objectives for that day. Each week I would focus on the general topic of what was being taught in the classroom. I would interact with each student and ask what their goal for the day (Woodly,2015) was and review a few type NCLEX questions pertaining to health promotion and delegation.

I would prefer that post conferences be where we highlight issues that came up during that day. Focus on things that reflect our roles as health care providers. I would also use it as a debriefing session and an educational opportunity to highlight safety topic or issues relating to the treatment of team members, patients and ourselves. Since there is a journal activity there is no need to review each detail. I would also review requirements for journals and documentation and ethical dilemmas.

In Bemidji Minnesota, the CNS or DNP as the preceptor for underserved populations remains a plausible focus. This will require the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) to champion the role of the CNS in credentialing bodies, DNP schools of nursing to create curriculum changes to include 75 hours of clinical service to underserved populations, offer innovative clinical sites to schools of nursing with available preceptors, and create guidelines to include 75 hours of clinical service to underserved populations to renew an APRN license for state boards of nursing.…
