The assessment plan created in EDFO 483, utilizes several methods of assessments used to collect data to assess students’ understanding of the material, to assess changes the teacher may need to make, and to analyze how accurately students’ demonstrate their understanding of the learning objectives associated with the lesson. The information gathered in this assessment plan can be used to redesign instruction, reformulate instructional methods and teaching strategies, and gather data regarding the student’s understanding of the material. This information is also a means of checking to make sure students learn what the teacher is teaching. In this assessment plan, students will work as a group to create a comic strip that will be shared with the class during their presentation time. The summative assessment involves specific requirements for students to incorporate in their comic strips for them to demonstrate their accurate understanding of onomatopoetic words. Unlike the formative assessments, the summative assessment will be given at the end of the lesson when the instructional process is over rather than while the instruction is occurring. The summative assessment will be used to measure how well the students meet the objectives being taught in the lesson. By using the grading scale associated with the attached rubric, students will receive a formal grade for the summative assessment. Because of this, the summative assessment is of higher stakes than a formative assessment. Since the summative assessment is a performance assessment, a rubric is required. The rubric states what specific information and requirements are needed for the students to demonstrate their understanding of the material. The rubric also provides a rating scale to use to measure students’
