I work at a career center, and the students that attend my campus come from the four high schools that are in the district. Our campus focus is on career and technology education, and we offer a wide array of programs. Our 2015/2016 plan includes goals for the entire CTE department and major initiatives for my campus. I will explain the need and rationale for the goals that will contain measurable data, and the principal’s role as a leader in the plan. The thought behind the plan is to improve the learning for our students, so they have the opportunity to achieve and be successful during and after high school. In our building, teachers are encouraged to pursue certification and licensures for the students in their program. All of the certifications …show more content…
When students and staff feel safe in their surroundings, it creates a positive learning environment for everyone. Other ways that will show that this objective is being met is the increased rate of attendance for students and …show more content…

For example, one strategy we have implemented is to make sure everyone that steps foot in the school has an identification badge, and it is visible. Our building is also equipped with cameras inside the school and outside in the parking lot. There should be a limited number of doors that students and guests can access, and the other doors should remain locked. As a leader, it is my responsibility to make sure these things are taking place. Principals need to know who is in their building at all times, and what is happening on the property. Effective principals set good examples for staff and students such as wearing their identification badge and helping teachers monitor students in the hallway to make sure students have badges. The safety audit, we receive during the year will indicate if we are successful in meeting our objective. The audit will also show us where we need to improve our safety standards within the building. With everyone in the building wearing badges and keeping certain doors locked, we are creating a safer environment for everyone in the

Arming teachers and staff in public schools is an agreeable, but yet also a destructive way of keeping themselves and the students safe. Teachers and other staff members can leave their gun in their desk and any student can access their desk if that teacher leaves their classroom even for a split second. If a student does this then they may not know about gun safety and or how to use it. This could turn into a harmful situation. If we arm teachers do the school boards have the policies and procedures to govern the carrying and use of firearms.…
