The focal point of this assignment is to pinpoint an area of practice that has significant concerns surrounding it, the issue has been identified through the most recent (August 2016) parent and carer questionnaire. In addition to this it is also to identify at what point in time these issues may have occurred and why these particular issues arose. Next to devise a plan on how the organisation, both management and staff are going to respond and resolve matters, therefore this creates a better practice. The idea of best practice offers the belief that working together and multi-agency working is the key to a successful practice. Working Together to Safeguard Children (2015) is a vital piece of framework used throughout the setting that guides professionals throughout a professional career, this includes the use of best practice. WTSC is the main framework the setting abides by and it is implemented immensely throughout, especially the use of information sharing, as it is vital to keep these vulnerable children safe. WTSC evidently works in this particular setting, all staff are given online safeguarding training, at least to level one standard, whereas the lead activity coordinator is trained to a level two standard and attends regular update workshops, this information and training is passed down to all staff. Training sessions happen once a year, usually before the start of summer holiday clubs. All staff are made aware that is it everybody’s responsibility to safeguard the children they are looking after. This area of the charity is entirely reliant on the local councils funding; the charities main aim is to provide sufficient care for children with severe needs. Equally as crucial to this is being able to give the parents and carers a well-deserved break. Although the service isn’t monitored directly by Ofsted, the local council come into the setting at least once a year to ensure the money they are contributing is being used in the desired ways and that the children are happy. As a result of this particular section of the charity being primarily care orientated, management and key workers follow a series of policies that protect not only the child but also the adults also. The three main safeguarding policies that the charity adhere to are, ‘Safeguarding Children & Child Protection Policy’, ‘Intimate Care and Intrusive Medical Procedures Policy’ and ‘Accident, First Aid, Medical Conditions and Seizure Policy’. These policies are updated at least once a year but most importantly as and when needed, due to the ever changing and complex needs of the children under the care of setting it is essential to update policies or care plans to ensure all information is correct and up to date. This could be what medication the child need to take at a certain time, this is subject to change so being up to date with this is mandatory and vital to
