Academic achievement
I scored 35 on the ACT, 790 on the Math II SAT Subject Test, ended with a 4.43 GPA junior year, and was nominated as an “usher” at LAHS Graduation Ceremony 2016 to name a few. I have also taken numerous Advanced Placement (AP) classes and received all A’s, except for a B+ second semester of AP Chemistry.

As scientific studies show, men’s brains mature at the age of 43, eleven years later than woman, and this shows in many aspects of my high school career; of course, the latter can be shown too at school. When others act and think immaturely, it pushes a peer, like myself, to gain the upper hand in maturity. There needs to be a balance to the population of mature and immature students. Instinctively, I find myself as a suppressor; someone who needs to tell immature students to stop doing what they are doing or give them a glare. In addition, with a heavy workload, it is easy to mature. I need to be a mature student at work; no one is going to treat me as a little child if I mess up at work or behave immaturely. I need to stand up for my behavior and my actions; I am a high school student, soon-to-be college student. In a more technical aspect, no one needs to remind me to finish my homework or ask if I have gotten started on my college essays. After nine years of playing the cello and practicing it, I find myself having confidence in performing in front of an audience. Especially with “checkpoints”, like NMMEA All State and competitions, I gain self-confidence because my hard work always pays off and it only motivates me to work harder and keep practicing. Furthermore, through my experience and performances in speech and debate, I have gained self-confidence when speaking in front of large crowds or groups of people. Class presentations are fun and enjoyable now.
