I think was voice was still shaky, but I felt more comfortable giving the speech. Also, I was better prepared and ready for this speech. I had exactly what I was going to say on the note cards and I practiced more than last time. Also, after watching my

Romney’s speech is rhetorically effective to the greater extent. He uses both logical and emotional rhetorical devices to fulfill the effectiveness of his speech on the audience. Logic does help since most voters out there don’t know what they are doing and just vote for whoever seems like they have the best plan. It also appeals to the smart people who watch the news and indulge this time of year, after all everyone just wants a better country. Emotional appeal does indeed tug at the heart strings and can do a better job convincing.…

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:13,14 Every day God's salvation draws nearer, which means we must be more diligent and persevering in our walk with the Him. We are nearing the day of the "coming of our Lord and Savior," which signifies the need to pick-up our pace so that we will finish our earthly race and hear our Lord proclaim, "Well done thou good and faithful servant..."…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…

I wanted to speak louder and clearer, but it was hard for me because I was very sick and losing my voice. That did not help me unfortunately, but I still tried as hard as I could to make myself speak louder. During this speech I was also able to control my nerves a little better than the first time. I was less nervous this time than I have ever been publicly speaking in my life. I felt a little shaky, but I didn’t have any pins and needles or numbness in my face, which I am very proud of.…

The strength of my speech was the first body paragraph, because it demonstrates how hard my dad work for the family. Which also make the audience understand why he is qualified for the award. When I glance at the time today, I’ve noticed I already spoke for four minutes. Thank god, I checked otherwise I probably would have went over the time limit.…

After noticing the speaker’s confidence during the speech, it became clear that his calmness and ability to speak clearly, his ability to refer to his notes and to use the power point at the same time and also his ability to ensure he was the source of the information he was giving made his delivery good. This informative speech could have been improved with more body movement during the transitions and a good eye contact with the…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Initially after giving the persuasive speech, I felt that there has been little process in all of this time that I had spent trying to learn to communicate more effectively. Worst of all perhaps, I felt powerless to do anything to change this. This was my most practiced speech and it did not feel that way. Even the thought of having to go back and essentially relive those 7 minutes was not something I was particularly excited about.…

The article "The Necessary Art of Persuasion.” written by Jay A. Conger offers a new way forward for providing leadership of people. He recognizes that today’s society has changed its expectation on how teams should function. Today’s team members have an expectation that they should be treated as valuable resources, they should be recognized for the unique perspectives they bring, and be able to have some role in making decisions. The concept of a leader’s role has changed as well, it is not about disciplining the troops, using shame or threats to keep them contributing, quite the opposite. A leader is expected to be inspiring and inclusive.…
