The orientation held on June 4, 2016 was honestly more than I expected. The instructor, John Alvarez, did an excellent work explaining the program and the requirements needed to finish the program successfully. We were first introduced to The Law Center Staff and professors which was helpful as we learned how and where to find them if we need any help with the program. In addition, it gave me such a great feeling to know that MDC’s Paralegal Program is the only accredited/approved program by the American Bar Association in the entire Miami-Dade County. Right there it let me know that I had made the right choice in enrolling in this institution. Subsequently, the instructor explained the program and the requirements. We were introduced to the courses and their breakdown in groups. I learned that we must take the courses in order (groups) so we can have the knowledge needed for the following course. First, we met Keana Mercado who is the president of the SLCS. They do a lot of community service to help with social issues in our local area. Then we met Milagros Yanes, she’s the president of the LEX group. The group helps you to eventually be able to apply and qualify for The National Paralegal Honor Society and you will benefit in graduating with honors in the Paralegal Program. At the end we met Mr. James Spann Jr., who besides teaching he is also an attorney and a broker. It’s such a motivation to see how he has been able to do many things in his life. Definitely would love to get in contact with him and ask him more about the process he went through. I must say that orientation did exactly that, it oriented me as to what I should expect in this journey and how rewarding it will be at the
