Summative Evaluation The summative evaluation for this workshop would be the production of two lesson plans that the teachers who attend this workshop will be able to take back and use in their classrooms. The purpose of the lesson plans is twofold. First, the lesson plans will give the educator a good start at putting together a fitness unit using cooperative learning groups. Second, the lesson plan will include need to include the concepts that the participant has learned during the workshop. These lesson plans will be shared and discussed in cooperative learning groups that I form with the participants in the workshop. Each participant will be given a scoring rubric to make sure that all the relevant information that needs to be included …show more content…
Participants will then write a paragraph describing how they can use the information in the example workout log to determine if those students are or are not progressing in their physical fitness levels. The purpose of this assessment is to determine if participant understand how to use workout logs with cooperative learning groups to monitor the progress of the students within that group. The data from this assessment will be quantitative in nature as it will be a score from a rubric. The first learning objective deals with setting up cooperative learning groups. One of the tasks for the participants to complete in the formative assessment was to set up cooperative learning groups using data given to the participants of pre-test fitness data. If students correctly complete this formative assessment, student will have proven knowledge included in the first learning objective. The second learning objective deals with participants being able to demonstrate basic knowledge about how cooperative learning groups should function in a physical education class. A multiple choice assessment will be given as a part of the formative assessment. Those who pass this multiple choice test will demonstrate competency for the second learning objective. The third learning objective has participants look at workout logs to determine student progress. Participants will write a paragraph about what they see in the workout logs thus proving their understanding of how to use workout logs to evaluate student progress. Those participants who adequate describe how to use these workout logs will show competency in the third learning objective.
