Clinical Reflection In Nursing

This is a clinical reflection constructed on my understandings whilst on my four-week placement in emergency department in Bankstown Hospital. This placement allowed me to put theory into practice. To keep the individuality and conserve confidentiality of the patient I selected to discuss him identified as ‘” David” this is accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct (2008). To promotion for covering reflection I will be using Gibbs (1988) reflective model. The organization of this outline permits the clinical reflection to be inscribed in simple words and in a clear manner which will deliver wide number of opportunities to expression at the happening from a number of perceptions: that will lead to highlight regions of training which would be altered in the upcoming time (Jasper 2003). As the patient got diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, Patient was denying for care as he was just concerned about his walking that time. I speculated why the patient is not co-operative and refusing most of the care as he was badly needed the proper treatment. I felt anxious and unhelpful to see the condition of the patient at first moment. Through I came across with David it was becoming clearer to me why he would feel agitated and depressed. As the rash on his leg had suddenly increased a lot and he had poor intake and output and there was no family member with him as they just went overseas. I felt enormous obstructive for him. According to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (2008), nurses must treat patients with respect and maintain their dignity. With David as he was not able to walk by his own and restricted to bed.
