Assumptions
The study contains several assumptions requiring clarification.
1) Chosen participants have meaningful experiences of media production or distribution successes or failures to contribute to the research. The selection process attempts to reduce the risk of ill-chosen participants. Those members deemed unacceptable because they do not meet the participant criteria will be excused and replaced.
2) Responses to interview questions, ethics, and change management results will be truthful and accurate (Fowler, 2008).
3) Participant 's ethics may be revealed including 1) depicting their organizations in a positive manner to balance perceptions of leadership effectiveness, 2) are organizational leaders who are aware their participation may provide information that benefits corporate business operations, 3) are aware of the …show more content…
The sampling will consist of 10 to 15 participants from the media management production and distribution field on the east and west coasts of the United States. All participants will be 30 years old or older. The participants currently work for various media organizations and possess the knowledge and skills to manage a media organization successfully. The participants will be results-oriented production and distribution professionals in the media industry.
Limitations. The study contains several limitations requiring clarification.
1) Media executives may not understand the nature of their achievements and, therefore, may not be able to explain it. Therefore, the participant’s rendition of their experiences may not suffice to explain their change management situation.
2) Similar to limitation one is the executives ' ability to recall experiences of business change. Over time managers oversee many company changes and are not always able to remember the different experiences encountered with each change.
