Evaluating My Short Film

In this evaluation I will be identifying and analyzing how effectively I used context and research to create my short film, I will also be evaluating my peer feedback and how I improved my short film as well as evaluating how I felt the project went throughout this assignment.

Research

I am really pleased with how this project went because I feel like I did a lot of thorough research into my auteur, Quentin Tarantino. From analyzing his films in my video essay, experimenting with some shots iconic to Tarantino, looking into his titles and title sequences, researching his film soundtracks and most of all, how Tarantino uses violence. From this research I am most pleased with my video essay because it helped me understand my research even more as I had to look into what my research meant and what image would link with the audio, as opposed to just reading the information from the web. Something that I am quite proud of is that I would think about the mise en scene and doing this I feel like I am creating be shots that all feel significant in some way because now I am layering shots and creating depth with my props, actors and the set in a way I feel Tarantino would do as I found out the he uses lots of mainstream media references and product placement during his films. As whole I am extremely happy with the outcome of filming although there were a few shots I should have filmed such as the trunk shot and two person shots, but I felt like this made editing a lot easier as my shots are becoming constantly better throughout these projects so there are less bad shots I would need to cut
