Decent Essays

The weekends and evenings seem to fly by. It is hard to believe that in 6 short weeks school will be out and summer will be here.

Take care,

Before this course, I did not know grammar well, and what I did know I did not fully understand. Yet, due to taking the course, I learned more about the structure of the English language, and can use grammar better than I did before. For instance, the first three major assignments were filled with missing comas, verb-tense misuses, and run-on sentences. Now, I may still make mistakes, but I know why I have made them. In other English courses, I had grammar homework and reading assignments that, often, seemed to be busy work, but with this course, I did not think that was the case.…

Standardized tests do not measure real world skills. “Standardized test scores accurately measure student academic achievement and that academic achievement constitutes the full range of goals we have for students. However, beyond basic academic skills, corporate leaders have consistently cited the need for critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and collaboration, communication skills, and a good work ethic as the keys to worker success. And because there is more to life than work, most citizens want children to learn about art, music, and other aspects of civilization; to explore and develop their own skills and talents; and to become good neighbors and active, productive citizens. ”This quote says test scores measure student academic…

Research paper ROUGH draft Intelligence testing in schools has been a topic of high debate in our society. Since its introduction in France when French psychologist Alfred Binet “designed a formal test of intelligence that would help identify children who were unable to learn as quickly or as well as others” (Psychology book) to the First World War leading up to present day its adoption into schools has been marked by unfairness, unreliability, and invalidity. But, efforts have been made to fairly standardize tests such that issues of cultural bias for example are eliminated. So, intelligence testing continues to be an arguable measurement that “has spawned a variety of aptitude and achievement tests that shape the educational choices of millions…

Although teaching is a field that is extremely rewarding, it also comes with its share of challenges. These challenges can be overcome, however, if the teacher believes in their students ability to learn, and is able to inspire and motivate them. The teacher can accomplish this task through motivating the students through lessons, tests, and a positive classroom environment. If the teacher is fully committed to their student’s best interests, the classroom will ultimately succeed, even if there are challenges along the way.…
