How would you evaluate your professional growth and progress toward becoming a school counselor throughout your internship experience?

I feel that my internship has provided me with the experience that I needed in order to grow as a professional school counselor. The internship gave me the opportunity to practice my skills that I have been learning throughout my master’s program. It has also given me more confidence in my skills as I was given more responsibilities as I got further into my internship. In addition, my internship gave me beneficial information specific to my site and state that will support my counseling. What specific tasks did you identify for yourself?

Being at my internship site will be beneficial because I have built some great positive relationships with teachers, administrators, custodians, and students. One of my goals is to ensure collaboration between myself and the teachers so that I can make sure that I am able to support them as they teach the students. This goes along with my next goal of creating a teacher needs assessment to understand what I can do to help the teachers help the students. Another goal is to start senior graduation checks at the beginning of the year so that students have time to do credit recovery or take ACT or SAT tests, which is a requirement for graduation at our school. Another goal is to meet with all of the students by the first quarter to at least make sure I am familiar with the students and understand their needs. I might do this during guidance lessons and then meet with certain students individually. Another goal is to meet with my administrator and discuss goals with them and go over the school counselor annual agreement so that we can both be on the same

At first, I thought it as both a temporary semester with kids and to learn from a new population. In the end, it was more of actually wanting to volunteer these locations after finishing the term of internship. I’ve been shown with this experience how important it is for me to keep working at my people skill, that my ability to efficiently communicate is the bases for success with a sales job like selling flooring or lighting fixtures. This internship has helped me grow as a person and gain confidence. My favorite part of my internship was when Cozette and I were working with a client on a new construction job. The client brought in a completed floor plan, and came to select finishes and cabinetry. As we were walking through the floor plan we discussed the layouts of the bathrooms and kitchen.…

For instance, viewing the previous year’s School Wide Goals or Action Plan would provide an indication of the school’s current path. Of course, meeting with teachers, listening to their ideas of the vision they desire for the school, would be imperative. Furthermore, I would meet with my secretary to create a list of school/parent activities and school/community activities that were currently on our event calendar. This data would offer me insight and provide me with a starting point. For instance, if the school was already conducting parent teacher conferences several times a year, I would not need to work on that, however, if home visits were not on the agenda, that would be a topic I would want to talk about when I met with the…

In my college career which has been around 4 years now, these first two weeks are the first of any trimester or semester that instead of being enrolled in classes, I’m enrolled in an internship. This is definitely a change from the norm but at the same time it is exciting as well. It gives me the opportunity to use or observe some of the material that I have learned so far in my classes at Johnson & Wales in a real scenario. This internship allows me as well to gain much needed additional experience in the sports and athletics industry and will give me a more holistic view of the athletic program. It will allow me to see many different roles and see from various projects what parts of athletics I like or dislike since I am overall still open for the future to a variety of roles in the sports industry…

In the beginning of the semester, I would admit I was nervous to start my internship with the Divisional Clerks office. Before these past few months, I had only set-foot in a courthouse once or twice in my life for past tickets. Ever since I was eight years old, I have always wanted to be a lawyer. Growing up I enjoyed watching the television show; Law and Order Special Victims Unit, with my grandfather every day after school. When we would sit and watch the show together, my grandfather would tell me all the time “You would make a great lawyer Joe.”…

I acknowledge I do have weaknesses that need to be worked on but overall I am very please with the results and have given in my job and they way I have represented UTEP education. One recommendation I would suggest is more motivation for students to take an internship to allow them to have the experience of what it is to work in the real world before they graduate. I know it might not be the case for everyone, but I do know of some students that don’t take and internship because they don’t want to “lose time” with an internship rather than complete a class for graduation requirements. Little do students know that taking an internship does count as a class requirement. All that is left for me to say is that UTEP’s education and my hard work has developed into a formal job offer from Frontier Foods & Cold Storage that I am looking forward to…

My ideal internship experience would involve working in a role where I am surrounded by people who encourage each other in a supportive environment where everyone has a unique contribution to the team. I would love to work in an environmental health field or in epidemiology where I can work behind the scenes to improve public health, as well as working directly with the public. It would be ideal to be able to constantly challenge myself, and be involved in multiple roles. It would also include having the freedom to work independently, as well as collaborating with…

After working hard and trying my best to reach my managers and colleagues expectations I received the comments and grades I was hoping I get . Being responsible , sticking to rules , being presentable , sociable and productive were the key that helped me to get those outstanding results . It wasn’t easy at the beginning since it was my first experience but having all the support from staff and management was a major push that helped me to achieve them . Two major goals I had during this internship were working on new tasks while depending on myself and solving problems in a very rational calm way whether I faced any . Working in such field requires dealing with different people from all around the world so many have different way of thinking and different strategies and that could lead to facing many challenges , I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it…
