The alcohol industry is one of many industries that is viewed as unequal. We as consumers enjoy the many pleasures of alcohol and often time believe that it will make our celebrations more enjoyable, problems seem more distant or enhance our day to day function under stress. However, many of us never really stop to evaluate the long-term effects of alcohol in our personal lives, families, business decision making and over all ethical logic. These are the issues that I will address in this paper. My family and I have also dealt with the effects of having our loved ones undertaken by the addiction of alcohol. Therefore, I know on first-hand the damage it can do to families and careers.

That argument is true, however, when making that argument does anyone really factor in the daily issues one would face such as: high levels of stress on the job, depression, death, being disabled and overall what to do when life happens. Because life happens many consumers use alcohol as a way of coping and those methods are even trickling down to our youth. They’re not always given the proper tools and examples of how to deal with stress. Teens now have more issues and challenges to face on a day to day then teen/students that attended school in the 80s and 90s. Cyberbullying, the liberty to openly come to terms with their sexual preferences and orientation, abusive homes and relationships just to name a few… Many teenagers see alcohol as a way of numbing the pain due to lack of support. In schools and colleges, alcohol consumption is related to academic problems, assaults, risky sexual activities and even deaths on frequent basis. As of 2009, 24 percent of high school students reported heavy or binge drinking episodes.
