The DARE program was phased out because it was ineffective. It was not meeting key program goals. They wanted to show a good relationship between police officers and students. When speaking to teachers they liked the idea because unlike DARE the program would not take away class time. It also would not be around for a week like how DARE worked. With having SRO officers at school it would bridge the gap between the students and law enforcement. Students that were deemed a higher risk would have intervention from the resource officers and have more one on one time. They would also visit their homes and talk to their caregivers about the issues. After a year the program was reviewed as having positive outcomes. The schools that had implemented
