Her family was the only Jewish family in the village. When they reached the age of six, their town was occupied with a Hungarian Nazi armed guard. After four long years of stressful occupation her family and her was sent to a regional ghetto in Simleu, Silvaniei. In only a few short weeks the whole family was sent to Auschwitz death camp, by a cattle car (“About the Holocaust”). Without food or water for 70 hours, Eva and her family emerged at the selection platform at Aushwitz. Eva soon realized that her father and her two older sisters were gone. She never saw them again. By force the girls were taken from their mother, whom they also never saw again. Eva and Miriam became part of a group of children that were used as human guinea pigs in -genetic experiments.
