There are two common classifications of euthanasia which are voluntary and active euthanasia. Voluntary euthanasia is when the patient gives their consent to receive the lethal injections to peacefully end their life. Active euthanasia is when the physician ends the patient’s life by injecting the substances with intention to end their life. The other two classifications involuntary and passive, happen less often but are still primary actions that the physician takes. Involuntary euthanasia is when the physician is given consent to end someone’s life from an individual other than the patient themselves. This would occur if the patient is incompetent to make the decision on their own. Lastly, passive euthanasia is whenever the doctor prescribes more medication that could potentially be lethal but is not intentional to ending the patient’s life. Every person has the right to choose their death regardless of others opinions. People don’t seem to think of what they would do under those circumstances until the time has come and they’re lying in the hospital bed in severe pain. Death is sad regardless of how you die but knowing someone passes because of a decision they wanted is more comforting than knowing they suffered up until their last breath. I know others have strong opinions on this topic but euthanasia is the right thing to do in these situations. Life is short so why suffer through the end of it?
