Euskara is the Basque language which has existed for several thousand years. The roots are unknown because it is not related to any other spoken language today. Euskara has eight regional dialects and 24 subdialects. The unified Euskara was created in 1968 to unify the Basque Language according to the Basque Studies department at Boise State. This marked the recovery of the Basque language which brought its gradual impact on education. It has been preserved through generations.
In 1938, Jon Bilbao, who was a University instructor and activist for Basque Nationalism was invited to speak at Boise State University by the history department to give a presentation on the Basques in the midst of the Spanish Civil War.
